In the Comprehensive Evaluation,
the consultation team attempts to review all possible factors that may
effect the patient’s well being and future treatment. The consultation involves
the integration of a wide array of assessments conducted by several IOL staff
members. These evaluations may include: diagnostic evaluation, symptom severity
rating, psycho-pharmacology consultation, functional skills assessment,
neuropsychological assessment, psychosexual evaluation, family interaction
consultation, neuropsychiatric evaluation, substance abuse assessment, and/or
evaluations of the individual’s compliance with treatment recommendations.
The Limited Evaluation is
used for a more focused question and includes a smaller number of assessments.
Examples:
Diagnostic and Medication
Evaluation – This evaluation consists of a structured diagnostic assessment,
a systematic measurement of current symptoms, and a psychopharmacology
consultation. The goal is to clarify diagnosis and suggest future medication
treatments.
Rehabilitation Evaluation – This evaluation consists of neuropsychological
testing and functional skills assessments. The goal is to help clients develop
productive and meaningful activities (example: jobs, school, avocations) that
improve quality of life.
Brief Consultations do not
involve face-to-face meetings with IOL staff, but may include discussions with
service providers, family members, and a review of medical records.
