Schizophrenia Treatment Services:
Consultation Steps
What happens in a consultation?
You will be given ample amounts of time with professionals to discuss your
needs.
Step 1: A senior staff member
will talk with you on the phone and determine the specific questions you wish to
be addressed.
Step 2: We will review records
from all current and past treatments.
Step 3: Information collected in the first two
steps will be presented to a large team of experts. This team will suggest what
types of evaluations or specialty consultations you or your loved one should
complete and how much it will cost.
Step 4: A senior staff member will talk
with you about the team’s suggestions and specifically tailor the consultation
to your needs.
Step 5: If you decide to continue with the
consultation, our staff will schedule all appointments and tests (and if needed,
arrange for transportation or accommodations).
Step 6: The evaluations can take from a
few hours to a few days to complete. The types of tests will be matched to your
individual needs and are listed below.
Step 7: When all the tests are completed,
the results will be discussed by the team.
Step 8: You will be invited to
meet with the team to discuss you concerns.
Step 9: A senior staff member
will meet with you to review to the recommendations made by the team.
Step 10: You will receive
written recommendations to help answer your questions.
Step 11: A senior staff member
will offer a second meeting, if you should need to discuss the recommendations
further.
Step 12: With your permission, a
consultant will contact your current mental health providers to discuss the
results of the evaluations and the recommendations.
Step 13: A consultant may call
you six months after the consultation to answer additional questions that may
have arisen and to offer assistance in implementing the recommendations.
How much will this cost?
A Limited Consultation
costs from $1800 to $3730, depending upon the tests needed. A Comprehensive
Consultation costs $6000. The Institute of Living cannot bill insurance for
these procedures, and payment is due at the time of service.
