The Webb
Schools are able to provide a practical, diagnostic service to students and
their school districts while the students attend their local school. If a
Planning and Placement Team (PPT) determines that a diagnostic consultation
would be helpful to determine appropriate programming for a particular
student, an experienced educational/behavioral consultant is assigned. The
consultant, with district personnel and the student’s family, will assess
the need for formal and informal assessments, facilitate the administration
of those assessments, and provide direct consultation to those working with
the student. The goal is to support an educational plan which meets the
needs of the student so that the student is able to benefit from his/her
educational program.
Program services may include:
Formal and/or informal educational,
psychosocial or psychological assessments
Evaluation of the current and potential
programmatic offerings in the school district to support the student's
learning
Specific, practical suggestions (intervention techniques,
supports, etc) which integrate the student’s educational, emotional, and social
needs within the context of the least restrictive environment
Parent, student, and staff
coordination/collaboration
Professional development for the staff
A written evaluation and post-service consultation

Webb School Diagnostic Placement
Students
who are referred to the Webb Schools for diagnostic placement attend the
Webb Schools for approximately 6-12 weeks. Formal assessments and
observations within the school community help the diagnostic team to provide
the referring school with an integrated picture of the student and offer
practical solutions to the current problems. These solutions are tailored to
fit the student’s needs and follow all state guidelines. The first priority
is to return the student to his/her local school with effective programming
suggestions. However, not all students are able to return after the 6-12
week period. At times, the PPT may need extra time to put program components
in place or decide for a continuation in a more restrictive environment. Any
final decision regarding placement occurs through the PPT process.
Collaboration with the direct district staff and the family and bi-weekly
update meetings support the diagnostic and future action plan. Consultation
is provided throughout the transition to another program, if that is the PPT
plan at the close of the diagnostic period.
