The Webb Schools: Summer Program

 

 

 

The Children’s Webb is a therapeutic, educational/recreational, four week summer program for children 5-14.  It is operated by the Webb Schools: state accredited, special education facilities located in Hartford and Cheshire, Connecticut.  The staff includes:  special education teachers and administrators, licensed clinicians, and Bachelor’s level counselors who have extensive experience with special needs children.  Click here for a brochure and pre-registration form.

The program, aimed at providing the students with a happy, safe, and productive summer includes:

Academic Program – Students spend two hours a day on academic work. At the conclusion of the program, a progress report is completed and forwarded to parents and the school district.

Socialization/Behavior Program – Social and behavioral skill development are a prime focus of the program. The 3 to 1 staff ratio allows for students to learn how to successfully interact with peers and adults.

Enrichment – Children participate in art, music, science, sports, and social studies activities. Field trips are a regular part of the program experience.

Therapeutic – A mental health clinician is available to provide consultation to the program and to students’ families. Students participate in weekly social and life skills groups. If requested, a progress summary is sent to treating clinicians. A full time nurse can administer medication and/or provide medical service.

Swimming and Outdoor Play – Children participate in frequent swimming opportunities. Sports, games, and instruction take advantage of the outdoors.

STAIR (Successful Teens Accepting Individual Responsibilities) - The STAIR program provides high school students with a four week opportunity to prepare for real life experiences. This quality program focuses on practical education, and life, social and prevocational skills. Students may qualify for educational or community service credit.
